Organization Description: The Danville Regional Foundation is a private foundation that seeks to develop, promote, and support activities, programs, and organizations that improve the health, welfare, and education of the residents of the primary service areas of the hospital: Caswell County, NC, Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville, VA.
Program Description: Danville Regional Foundation is interested in the development of the next generation of well educated young leaders in the region. The Internship Program will identify 10 talented well-educated young people to help further the mission of DRF in the region through hands-on project-focused work and conceptual learning in the field of philanthropy. This program offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and a chance to make a difference in our community.
DRF will provide a dynamic experience for interns with various backgrounds and interests in our focus areas of economic development, education, health and wellness, and community engagement.
* Interns will undertake major team projects to further DRF initiatives.
* Interns will receive hands-on experience working in the field of philanthropy and with community partners.
* Interns will be required to participate in weekly discussions with local community leaders about required reading on community transformation.
* Each class of interns will spend a minimum of 2 hours per week working with area non-profit organizations.
* Interns will develop a group of implementable recommendations on what the region can do to attract and retain more young professionals.
Qualifications Required: Interns must be currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor, or master's level program at a known academic institution. Recent graduates are also eligible to apply. First priority will be given to those who reside in Caswell County, NC, Pittsylvania County and Danville, VA. Interns must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Interns must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams. Any discipline is welcome to apply.
Work Schedule: Interns will spend 10 weeks with the Foundation beginning May 25, 2010 through July 31, 2010. Interns will work full time, five days a week including a weekly seminar to be held one night per week.
Salary: Interns will be paid up to $14.50 per hour based on level of education and experience.
Housing: Interns will be provided housing on an as needed basis.

Overview
Hillsborough Street connects popular downtown areas and serves as the gateway to NC State University. The Hillsborough Street Municipal Service District (MSD) runs east-west along Hillsborough Street from St. Mary’s School to Interstate 440, a distance of about 2.5 miles and it includes several blocks of Morgan Street just east of Hillsborough Street. The MSD includes properties on both sides of both streets generally following a linear shape along the corridor. The northern boundary generally includes areas one block north of Hillsborough Street. The MSD contains 123 acres of land and more than 2 million square feet of built space. There are more than 200 businesses in the Hillsborough Street MSD. Revenue is derived from contributions and a supplemental annual tax of ten (0.10) cents for every $100 of assessed property value on commercial and residential parcels in the MSD.

Job Description
Reporting to the seven-member Board of the HSCSC, the Director is responsible for the effective implementation of the organization’s HSCSC priorities.
• Develop and implement strategies, initiatives and programs.
• Monitor and advocate for HSCSC priorities.
• Manage programs and events planned and forthcoming on Hillsborough Street.
• Work closely with citizen groups, advisory bodies, colleges and universities within the BID boundaries, businesses and others concerned with improvements on the street and programs and activities to achieve shared goals.
• Oversee the operating budget, develop revenue sources for programming, projects and events, and actively seek methods of park and arts development financing, including sponsorships and public or private sector grants.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in a related field. Knowledge of downtown and corridor revitalization principles, community involvement, private sector development, parks and community space, event coordination is desired.

A salary range of $50,000 to $70,000 plus benefits has been established.

CAHEC is a non-profit tax-credit syndicator based in Raleigh, NC, with the mission to:
* Raise and invest equity capital in qualified low-income housing tax credit projects and other tax credit products.
* Provide capital through a series of Community Investments which (i) empower residents, (ii) promote the development of affordable rental and ownership housing, and (iii) foster sustainability within the communities we serve.
The intern will assist with all aspects of underwriting low-income housing tax credit, historic tax credit investments, and new markets tax credit investments. Typical duties include financial modeling, market research, due diligence reviews and preparation of letters and reports. The intern will also visit local sites and attend meetings with investors and developers. This is a wonderful opportunity for students interested in affordable housing development and finance.

Triangle Land Conservancy
Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC), the local nonprofit land trust protecting habitat, clean water, local farms and interested in connecting people with nature throughout the Triangle, seeks an Easement Steward to manage TLC's growing easement program.
Triangle Land Conservancy's mission is to protect important open space—stream corridors, forests, wildlife habitat, farmland and natural areas—in Chatham, Durham, Johnston, Lee, Orange and Wake counties to help keep our region a healthy and vibrant place to live and work. TLC was organized in 1983 by a group of Triangle residents committed to the protection of those places that make our part of North Carolina special. Since its inception, TLC has grown from a small group of dedicated volunteers into a highly regarded and efficiently run community-based organization with thousands of members, a staff of fifteen full-time conservation professionals, and a stewardship endowment exceeding $750,000. Led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors consisting of businesspeople, attorneys, politicians, scientists, and community leaders, TLC is considered to be an authoritative voice for conservation issues that the Triangle faces.
Description: The Easement Steward is responsible for supervising and implementing the monitoring strategy for TLC's 60+ conservation easements. Supervised by the Director of Conservation Strategies, the Easement Steward collaborates with the Conservation Strategies team to set monitoring priorities and implements easement stewardship policy to attain strategic planning goals and conservation objectives.
Required Qualifications:
1. Personable and able to develop and carry on long-term relationships with landowners and conservation professionals.
2. Background in land stewardship, land management, or conservation related field.
3. 1-3 years experience in easement steward responsibilities or equivalent capability depending on background experience.
4. Aptitude in developing work plans as well as individual project budgets.
5. Ability to assess the condition of the land and develop resource inventories and baseline documentation.
6. ARCGIS proficiency, 1-3 years of work related experience or proficiency.

Responsibilities of Easement Steward:
1. Administer Easement Program and collaborate with other TLC staff to ensure all strategic goals are being met.
2. Manage TLC's Stewardship of Conservation Easements including preparation of baseline documentation, monitoring of all of the Conservancy's protected sites and coordination of easement amendments.
3. Work collaboratively with Conservation Project Managers to develop conservation projects, baseline document reports.
4. Aid in the development of management plans for land owned by the Conservancy.
5. Ensure annual monitoring of each conservation easement for compliance and file written monitoring reports.
6. Manage TLC land files; prepare for Land Trust Accreditation.
7. Prepare annual work plans for Easement Program.
8. Development of contract easement monitoring for conservation partners.
9. Manage easement stewardship resources. Strategically plan for future easement stewardship needs, including grant preparation, in-kind and pro bono solicitation.
10. Work collaboratively with Land Manager to manage a network of volunteers and TLC members to manage and monitor TLC's conservation easement properties, including school groups, corporate volunteers, and public workdays. Lead volunteer work days.
