Recent Graduates
This past spring the Department of City and Regional Planning graduated seven students specializing in transportation planning. We wish the best of luck to Corey Bell, Caitlin Boon, Julie Bjornstad, Liz Brisson, Chava Kronenberg, Anne Patrone, Michael Schwartz, and Jennifer Wieland. Mr. Schwartz and Ms. Wieland, both of whom received a dual Master’s Degree from the Department of City and Regional Planning and the School of Public health, also received awards at this year’s graduation ceremony. Mr. Shwartz received the award for the best Master’s Project and Ms. Wieland was recognized with the Best Colleague Award.
Many of our 2008 graduates have already begun their careers in the transportation field.
This summer Liz Brisson received a research award from DCRP alumnus Al Van Huyck to assist Dr. Rodriguez with a project examining the relationship between the built environment and travel behavior in Bogotá, Columbia. Ms. Brisson has recently accepted a position with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in Oakland, California.
Julie Bjornstad is working as a Transportation Planner with Fehr and Peers in Salt Lake City, Utah. She will also be one of the first members of the Utah Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS).
Chava Kronenberg will be moving to San Francisco this fall to begin a position with Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates .
This fall, Anne Patrone will begin working with the Surface Transport Division of Transport for London .
Michael Schwartz is currently working at Emory University where he is conducting research on employee travel at the Atlantic Station, a brownfield redevelopment site in Atlanta.
Jennifer Wieland works with the Seattle Department of Transportation as an Associate Transportation Planner. Much of her work thus far has concentrated on Seattle's Pedestrian Master Plan.
