Non-Motorized Transportation & Land Use

This research area attempts to understand 1) how built and natural environment affects transportation behavior, mode choice, mobility, and accessibility; 2) individual choices and preferences toward transportation and neighborhood design; 3) integration of land use and transportation in planning, design and implementation; and 4) multi-modal transportation and land use interactions.

Transit

The research in this area focuses on 1) new pattern of transit development as related to patterns of urban development; 2) transit safety; 3) transit management, infrastructure, and design; 4) bus transit system; and 5) optimizing transit as an integrated part of multi-modal transportation system.

Health, Environment, and Energy Research

Our research evaluates and assesses 1) how changes in transportation behaviors and patterns affect public health, environmental outcome, and energy consumption; and 2) policies, planning, and mitigation strategies to reduce adverse environmental, health and energy outcomes caused by or pertinent to transportation and land use.
